Total Carp League – Rules & Regulations
To ensure fair competition and enjoyable events for all anglers, the following rules apply to all Total Carp League matches:
â General Rules
All anglers must have a valid UK rod license.
Maximum of 2 rods per angler unless stated otherwise.
All fish must be treated with care and returned safely.
No alcohol or drugs during matches.
All participants must attend the pre-match briefing.
đ¯ Match Format
Matches are based on total weight of carp caught.
Only carp species count towards the total (no bream, tench, etc.).
Anglers may bait and cast only after the official start signal.
Weigh-ins will be conducted by a marshal with witness confirmation.
đ ī¸ Equipment Rules
Barbless or micro-barbed hooks only.
Safe rigs only (e.g., lead clips, heli-safes, etc.).
No fixed leads or unsafe setups.
Minimum 42" landing net and large unhooking mat required.
Fish care kits must be used on all hook holds and injuries.
â Baiting & Feeding
No floating baits.
No nuts (e.g., tiger nuts, peanuts).
Particle baits must be properly prepared.
Spodding and bait boats are allowed if venue permits.
đ Fish Handling & Weighing
Fish must be kept in a sling or net for the shortest time possible.
All fish must be weighed and recorded by a marshal.
No self-weighing allowed.
đ Timekeeping
Late arrival may result in disqualification.
No casting or feeding before the horn/start.
All rods must be out of the water by match end.
đĢ Disqualification Grounds
Breaking any rule may lead to disqualification.
Unsportsmanlike behaviour, cheating, or disrespect to others or the venue.
Not complying with bailiff or marshal instructions.

All anglers fish at their own risk.
Venue rules also apply and must be followed.
Any complaints must be raised during the match, not after.
